What is Reiki?

The word ‘Reiki’ is a Japanese term meaning Universal energy. When we practise Reiki we use universal energy to relax the client or ourselves which in turn allows our physical body to heal. The universal energy flows through the chakras in our hands and into the client we are healing. How does Reiki help anxiety? This energy gives a relaxing and peaceful feeling.

Reiki is a name for one of the many healing practises in Japan in the early 20th century. Mikao Usui taught his method of healing which eventually travelled to our Western society. Sensei Usui is known as the founder of Reiki. His Reiki hand positions are known throughout the Reiki schools. Everything is made of energy including our actions, trees, the movement of clouds. Our physical bodies respond to how the energy is moving according to our beliefs and attitudes and how we react to that which causes an emotional response. The physical body then feels that emotion which is sadness, anger, love, happiness, etc. When we experience an emotional situation that we do not want to deal with we sometimes hold this energy inside our bodies instead of releasing it. This causes the energy flow to become stagnant or blocked.

A Reiki practitioner allows the universal energy that is everything to flow through our bodies allowing any blockages or dis-ease to be transformed or freed. The Reiki Ray gives your body whatever it needs to heal.

Reiki energy flows through the body bringing peace of mind, clarity, upliftment, relieving pain, easing or acceptance of the situation or condition. When we receive Reiki we begin to understand or accept our situation which relieves the stress that is caused by it which in turn starts the healing process of the physical body.

Reiki affects all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It activates the body to heal on a deeper level which can have lasting benefits.
