Tips to deal with stress. Stress is detrimental to our health and well-being. There are many physical and emotional symptoms of prolonged stress.

Its vitally important that you have stress relief ideas to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. Learn to manage your stress levels. Reducing stress levels and increasing your happiness will help to keep you healthy and slow down the aging process caused by stress and worry. You will feel calmer and have more energy. You self-esteem will get a boost and your work productivity will increase significantly.

Stress Management is the ability to be aware of how stress affects your body and take action to manage and/or change situation when it gets too demanding.

Tips to Deal with Stress

1. Recognize: Recognize your symptoms of stress. With short term stress you might get a headache or migraine, feel tightness in your shoulders, feel nauseous or dizzy, have difficult concentrating on simple tasks, feel irritable and moody. These are all signs and symptoms of stress. Long term stress is detrimental to your health.

2. Make changes: Consider your lifestyle and what can be changed.

3. Eat Healthy: A healthy diet is vitally important to maintain wellbeing. Sufficient nutrients are required by our bodies to provide energy so that we are able to cope with daily stressors. Our body needs fats, proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water to function optimally.

4. Tea & Time Out: Take time out with a herbal tea. Relax and unwind. Nourish your body and soul.

5. Relaxation: Implement relaxation techniques in your daily routine. Learning self-care, relaxation techniques and stress relieving methods are vital to keep a balanced life in today's society.

6. Exercise: Relieve your stress by exercising – go for a walk. Physical fitness is an essential component of overall health and well-being. An exercise program that suits your needs and time constraints as well as keeps you motivated improves your physical fitness.

7. Sleep well: Sleep regenerates your body. Make sure you are getting enough sleep.

8. Journaling: If your thoughts are overwhelming take some time to write them down.

9. Time-out: Take time out for yourself. Read a book, watch a movie, listen to music, go for a walk, take up a hobby.

10. Have a chat: Talking with friends, family, counsellors or joining a support group sometimes helps you feel better and gives you a different perspective.
