Stress management and college students. Whether you're at college, university or the local TAFE studying is a whole new world. There are new people, new responsibilities and you are usually away from your familiar "support team".

Life stress and college student responsibilities can be a handful. It's important to implement stress management while in college to maintain your health and avoid burnout.

Some of the causes of college stress are that you are expected to cram lots of information in your head in an allocated amount of time! Its huge pressure. Life stress and college student responsibilities are an act of juggling!

Keep up with your allocated readings and start working on your assignments as soon as you receive them, rather than waiting for the last minute!

Another cause of college stress is the expectations you have on yourself to achieve high grades! The fear of failure can also haunt you... and add extra stress!

Before the rush hits prioritize your schedule. Keep up with readings. Go to classes regularly. And tackle assignments early.

Organize a regular study area that is located away from dorms and the party life scene.

Roommate stress

Have a yack about ground rules early to avoid conflicts. For example: Guy/Gal sleeping over rules. Lights out preferences.

Things in common can bring you together. Television programs, music, dancing. The Social Scene

Parties are great to cope with college stress. Parties this night and the next. And peer pressure can be pretty strong!

But when is a good time to say "no" and get that assignment done?

Well, if you're organized you'll have them done ahead of time and be able to party all night long!

But if you're a last minute kinda person it might be a good idea to miss Thursday night's party and catch the Saturday night one. There will always be another party.

Meeting new people.

If you're feeling shy or are a natural introvert maybe join a club of your interest.. just to keep things in balance.

It's difficult being in a new place to begin with, but you also have to fit loads of knowledge in your head while trying to balance a social life!
