Sleep Masks When
You Just Can’t Sleep

Sometimes when you are feeling really stressed, simple stress management just doesn’t seem like enough.

And it’s a well-known fact that, if you make your bedroom environment more sleep-friendly, you will have a much better chance of having a good night’s sleep.

Sleep masks can help, especially if you have a light problem. If you live in a neighborhood where there is a light outside your window, if you have a skylight that lets moonlight flood your room, or even if you have some electronic items in your room like an alarm clock, a smoke alarm or a computer—the light can wake you, prevent you from going to sleep, or even keep you up all night.

Sleep masks come in all shapes and sizes. Some fit more closely to your face. Some are firmer or softer than others. Some block out absolutely all the light while others let just a crack of light in.

Some masks are playfully colorful, while others are functional black.

Here are some things to consider:

  • Fabric - If you have allergies or you need to have soft fabric next to your skin, make sure you know what the mask is made of…

  • Shape - While some people just like a soft mask that fits snugly to the face, others require that the mask have indentations to accommodate their nose and eyes.

  • Fashion - If you plan to use your mask in a public place—work, plane, train, spa, outside--you might want to choose one of the more fashionable masks.

  • Laundering - It’s nice to have a fresh, clean mask. How easy is the mask to launder?

  • Size - If you are buying your mask for a very large or small head, make sure that it is made to fit the size you need.

As you can see, there are all kinds of masks to suit everyone’s needs.

So it’s important to decide what will work for you and then try one out for yourself!
