How Does Hypnosis Work
How does hypnosis work? Hypnosis means many things to different people, but it is essentially a state of being intensely focused, and where a person cooperates with a therapist to achieve a goal.In some ways, hypnosis is similar to meditation. When you are in a hypnosis session, you achieve a very relaxed body and mind, and you are able to communicate with your subconscious mind. However, unlike meditation where you desire to stay in this relaxed state, with hypnosis, your goal is to change your thoughts, ideas and behaviors.
Hypnosis uses mental imagery (imagination), suggestions for ways to achieve goals and the exploration of underlying motivations, to help a person achieve their goals. All these approaches are in tune with a person’s best interests.

During hypnosis, a person works with a therapist cooperatively.
How Hypnosis WorksYou can work with a therapist face-to-face locally, or you can use professionally made MP3s that are made by some of the best therapists in the world. And you can get good results, either way.
Who can be hypnotized?Unless you have had a brain injury of certain types, you can be hypnotized. However, some people have a natural ability to respond to hypnotism, more readily than others. In addition, you must be willing to be hypnotized. If you resist, or you don’t want to be hypnotized, you can’t be hypnotized.
Loss of Control? Many people fear that, if they are hypnotized, they will lose control—or someone else will be in control of them. I have to admit, that, before I was hypnotized for the first time, I had this fear. The truth is, that, you are always in control. In fact, in some ways you are more aware than at other times. Your concentration is very intense, but you can leave the hypnosis state at any time. For example, if my husband asks me where something is, while I am listening to a hypnosis program, I can instantly "come back" and tell him where to look. I am totally in control of myself. In addition, if you don't agree with something, you can mentally say "no".
Asleep or Not?Are you afraid that you may never awaken from a hypnosis session? Don’t be. No one has ever been stuck in a hypnosis session forever. In fact, you are not really asleep. You never lose consciousness. You are actually in a state that is very similar to the way you feel, just before you fall asleep. I find it very relaxing, but you don’t even have to be relaxed for hypnosis to work. Most people remember everything that was said during a hypnosis session; perhaps better than at other times, because of your intense concentration.

How Does Hypnosis Work? There are lots of studies on hypnosis and its effectiveness, and it has been found to be highly effective—93% effective, after just 6 sessions. In fact, hypnosis has a better track record than psychotherapy or behavior therapy, two other recognized psychological therapies. Many physicians are using hypnosis for pain relief, allergies, skin disorders, headaches and enhanced healing after surgery and to help their anxious or depressed patients deal with stress and anxiety. Hypnosis is a recognized and effective medical tool (American Medical Association), and, if a program is designed by an experienced professional, it can help you change your life, for the better. The only other caveat is that you have a responsibility, too. You need to use your self-hypnosis programs regularly in order to get results. That having been said, you have a very good shot at changing your life—using self-hypnosis!
