Herbs for Stress Relief
And Stress Management

There are many herbs for stress that are effective at relieving stress and anxiety.

In coping with stress, you may need to use several different methods, including using herbs for anxiety.

Anxiety herbs can be taken as supplements, used in herbal teas or, in some cases they can be used as seasonings in your healthy recipes.

Natural herbs were given to us as healing herbs, and their use, in many cases, can be as effective as any modern medication.

Many natural herbs can be used as stress relief herbs.

Herbal Remedies for Anxiety and Stress

Natural herbs can be used to help you relax and unwind and get a good night's sleep. They can also be used to help boost your immune system, your nervous system and to improve your adrenal functioning.

Natural herbs are a truly Godsend, and they have been used by people for thousands of years to maintain health--physical and mental health.

Here are some commonly used herbs for stress and anxiety:

  • German Chamomile - Chamomile is good for calming nerves. German chamomile is also good for soothing an upset stomach, which is frequently a side effect of nervousness.

Taken as a tea (which is how I like it), it can help calm you down within minutes.

Chamomile oil, an essential oil is also used in aromatherapy. The vapors also calm frayed nerves. Japanese researchers have found that the vapors of chamomile oil actually reduce the stress hormones in the blood.

  • Lavendar - Lavendar can help banish depression and help you get a good night’s sleep. Lavendar has been used for coping with stress--as far back as the Middle Ages, where it was used in smelling salts!

Research backs up the claims that lavendar calms the central nervous system. In fact, there are over 100 chemical compounds in lavendar that do just that!

You can grow your own lavendar--it’s easy to grow. Make your own herbal tea. And use lavendar when dealing with stress, for headaches, cramps, depression or digestive upsets.

  • Lemon balm - Lemon balm is one of the ways to relieve stress--by helping you sleep, relieving anxiety and also boosting your energy levels. It also soothes an upset stomach.

Herbalists recommend lemon balm as one of the herbs to reduce stress, to calm tension, raise your spirits and relieve depression, for insomnia, tension headaches and to relieve an upset stomach that is caused by stress.

Lemon balm is taken as a tea, or used as aromatherapy in a nice warm bath.

  • St. John’s Wort - St. John’s Wort is primarily used for mild depression. In studies, involving more than 3000 people, St. John’s Wort was found to be very effective at relieving depression. 80% of the participants reported feeling improved--or completely free from depression, after taking St. John’s Wort.

If you are depressed, you would be wise to speak with your physician before medicating yourself with this herb--or any other.

In addition, if you are taking St. John’s Wort, be careful to limit your time in the sun. This herb does make you more sensitive to sun exposure.

So, if you are dealing with stress, you might want to consider the use of stress relief herbs or homeopathy .

Herbs have been used for hundreds of years, and many of them are very effective in helping you if you are coping with stress.

Herbs for stress are very easy to obtain, and you can grow many of them in your home garden, or in containers on your porch or in your home.

An added plus is that growing herbs or gardening is a fun and relaxing hobby!
