The Effect of Stress on Health


The effect of stress on health varies between people. Prolonged stress affects your overall health and everyone experiences the affects of stress differently. The best defense of stress is knowledge. Be aware of your body's reactions to stressors and take time to de-stress!

How does stress affect body? I can't say exactly how stress is affecting your body and health....

....Stress IS a personal thing. Everyone has their own beliefs, attitudes and thoughts with which they handle stressful situations. These 'pre-programmed' thoughts create individual feelings that provoke reactions to situations. What one person might perceive as stressful might be considered as a healthy challenge by another.

Everyone has their own unique perception of life's events.

There are many different types of stressors and the side effects of prolonged stress are detrimental to our body, health and lifestyle.

Stress also affects your emotions. Stress can make you depressed, irritable and anxious. This makes it a struggle to handle even the smallest of life's challenges.

The first step is being aware of our thoughts and how they are affecting our stress levels and wellbeing. Cognitive Therapy stress management technique then can be thought of as a simple stress relief technique and empowerment process whereby you first monitor your thoughts and then alter them to create a perferred consequence or life change.

Altering your thoughts and behaviours is something to consider when planning to conquer your stressful habits. A regular stress management program which includes regular relaxation techniques and exercise is beneficial for managing stress and keeping your body healthy.

Prolonged stress affects your overall health and you may experience some of the following physical illnesses related to stress.
