Define Self Esteem What is Self Esteem?
Your Self Esteem Is Created by Your Mind!
You can define self esteem by how you act and think. Self esteem is how you feel about yourself, which in turn, is influenced by the thoughts that you have about yourself! If you think negative thoughts about yourself and have negative feelings about yourself, you will have low self-esteem.. On the other hand, you can build confidence and increase your self esteem by thinking positive thoughts about yourself!
People with low self esteem tend to choose partners who belittle or abuse them, or they might continue to work in a job where they feel unworthy and dissatisfied because they feel they can't do better. Did you know that eating too much food and gaining weight is another symptom of living with low self esteem?

Self Esteem Develops Ffrom Past Experiences
A low self esteem usually develops throughout your life and through the experiences you’ve had had a child and while you were growing up.Having a poor self image doesn’t mean that you are worthless, it just means that you’ve had previous experiences that give you that perception. Changing how you think about those past experiences can change your self-perception!
Social Circumstance & Society's Perspective:
As we define self esteem it's important to consider social circumstances and the impact of society. The values and norms that make up society impact on a person’s experiences. Social significance of society has the potential to create certain mindsets in an individual, including low self esteem. Consider how a woman’s role in the workplace is often in jobs focusing on nurturing and caring for others, such as nursing, teaching, parenting, childcare, etc. These roles are often undervalued in society, not giving women enough credit for their work. Men feel the pressure from society around issues of performance and being the income earner and supporter of the family. When we define self esteem, it’s important to look at childhood upbringing, society’s impacts and the beliefs and attitudes that a person holds.
