Breast Cancer Causes
What Causes Breast Cancer?

Cancer Can Be a
Stress Related Illness

While breast cancer causes are still being debated, there appears to be a connection between stress and cancer.

And if we know what causes breast cancer, we have a good chance of preventing or defeating it...

In addition to traditional cancer treatment, there are a number of alternative cancer treatments that are achieving success.

One thing is for sure--if you learn that you have cancer, you need to keep a positive attitude--whether you choose to go with traditional therapy and treatment, or you prefer to use an alternative therapy.

Stay positive and cut down on stress, one of the causes of cancer.

Using hypnosis with your treatments can give you a better result!

What Causes Breast Cancer?

There is still much disagreement about exact causes of breast cancer, but there are some factors that seem to make a person more susceptible.

Breast cancer in women is far more common than breast cancer in men. However, if a man has breast cancer, it does increase the chances of getting breast cancer for all of his close female relatives.

Here are some breast cancer causes and signs of breast cancer to consider:

  • Your age - the risk for breast cancer increases as you get older.

  • Your race - white women are a little more at risk than black women - in the U.S.

  • Your history - If you had a tumor in one breast before, you are 3-4 times more likely to develop an new tumor, than someone who has never had breast cancer.

  • Your genes - If there is a history of breast cancer in your family, you are at higher risk. And, additionally, a small percentage of breast cancers are believed to be hereditary.

  • Your hormones - If you had your first period before the age of 11, or you are taking hormones during menopause, you have an increased risk. However, if you had your first child before the age of 30, you have a decreased risk.

  • Your weight - Being overweight or obese increases your risk for breast cancer. This, of course, is one factor that you can change.

  • Alcohol consumption - Women who drink more than 2 glasses of alcohol a day increase their chances of breast cancer. This is another factor that you can control...

  • Exercise - As little as 1 1/4 to 2 1/2 hours per week of brisk walking can reduce a woman's breast cancer risk by 18%. (Women’s Health study)

  • Stress - Increasingly, scientists are seeing a relationship between stress levels and breast cancer. This is another factor that you can definitely minimize.

Stress and Cancer
A Stress-Related Illness

While many of the causes of breast cancer are inherited, or out of your control, some of what causes breast cancer is easily controlled by you.

Stress and illness have a relationship, and the question of how does stress affect health has been raised in many countries. Stress and cancer are no exception.

Women who experience trauma or who live under chronic intense stress are far more likely to succumb to breast cancer. Stress is a major factor for getting breast cancer.

And the good news is that, if you learn good stress management techniques, you can minimize the other breast cancer causes. Learning to handle stress and tension actually makes all those other causes of cancer less important.

Keeping a positive attitude, living a healthy lifestyle (including getting exercise), and learning to relax--can all help you prevent breast cancer and, even overcome breast cancer!
